West Fraser Announces Sawmill Permanent Production Reduction Program


On June 17, local time in West Vancouver, West Fraser announced that it plans to permanently close the Chasm sawmill in the third quarter and cancel the third shift of the 100 Mile House sawmill. The production cut is expected to permanently reduce the production of approximately 314 million boards of wood.


Russian state-owned development bank and Rockwell Capital plan to invest in pulp mills


On June 7th, the Russian State Development Bank (VEB.RF) official website news, VEB.RF and investment company Rockwell Capital signed a memorandum of intent to set up a holding company. As the company's first project, the two sides plan to build a wood processing complex in the Krasnoyarsk region of Siberia.


The entire building complex has an investment of about 140 billion rubles and is designed to produce 900,000 tons of pulp per year. The construction of the new plant will begin in the spring of 2020, and the first batch of products will be launched in 2025, mainly for the East Asian and Southeast Asian markets.


Klabin's Puma plant is scheduled to be shut down for maintenance


According to Klabin's official website, Klabin's Puma plant is scheduled to begin preventive shutdown maintenance on July 1 for a period of 16 days. The Puma plant has a capacity of 1.6 million tons per year of softwood pulp, broadleaf pulp and fluff pulp.
